Jill Biden to attend grand re-opening of Notre Dame cathedral in final trip as first lady
Biden's six-day trip will include stops in Italy, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, before culminating in her appearance at Notre Dame in Paris.
First lady Jill Biden on Tuesday left for her final international trip in the White House, which will culminate in an appearance at the grand re-opening of Paris' Notre Dame cathedral on Saturday, which President-elect Donald Trump will also attend.
Notre Dame has been closed to the public for the past five years because of repairs after a major fire swept through the centuries-old structure. But the world was given the first glimpse of the refurbished cathedral last week.
Biden's six-day trip will also include stops in Italy, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, the Associated Press reported. The first lady will continue to focus on the topics that she has championed throughout her stay in the White House, such as support for military families, education, and women's health and cancer research.
The first lady also led the U.S. delegation of athletes to Paris this year for the Summer Olympics. The trip marks her 10th solo international excursion over the past four years.
