China bans exports to U.S. of gallium, antimony, germanium after U.S. tightens chip restrictions
The decision was made after the U.S. government lengthened the list of Chinese companies that would be subject to export restrictions on computer chip-making components
The Chinese Commerce Ministry announced on Tuesday that it is banning exports to the United States of gallium, germanium, antimony and other "high-tech materials with potential military applications" in response to U.S. restrictions on exports related to semiconductors, according to the Associated Press.
The decision was made after the U.S. government lengthened the list of Chinese companies that would be subject to export sanctions on computer chip-making components including software and memory chips, the outlet also reported.
