White House physician Kevin O'Connor said on Monday night that President Biden did not see Dr. Kevin Cannard, a neurologist and Parkinson's disease specialist, out of his normal annual physicals.

In a letter released publicly, O'Connor said Cannard was selected for the physicals "not because he is a movement disorder specialist, but because he is a highly trained and highly regarded neurologist here at Walter Reed and across the Military Health System, with a very wide expertise which makes him flexible to see a variety of patients and problems."

Cannard's 10 visits to the White House since November 2022 sparked questions following Biden's widely panned debate performance.

O'Connor said Cannard has been a neurology consultant for the White House Medical Unit since 2012.
