Pentagon to pull Milley's security clearance and detail: Report
A defense official claimed the actions were being taken because "there is a new era of accountability in the Defense Department under President Trump's leadership—and that's exactly what the American people expect."
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is expected to pull retired Gen. Mark Milley's personal security detail and security clearance "immediately," multiple sources told Fox News on Tuesday.
The Defense Department has already removed one portrait of Milley from the Pentagon as President Donald Trump returned to office, and a second is expected to be removed as early as Tuesday.
Milley and Trump clashed during the president's first term, with Milley reportedly referring to Trump as a "fascist." Milley was chairman of the joint chiefs of staff from 2019 to 2023 under Trump and former President Joe Biden. But Trump has also praised Milley in the past.
Hegseth is also allegedly directing the department's Inspector General to investigate whether there is enough evidence to strip Milley of a star in retirement based on his actions to "undermine the chain of command" during Trump's first term, the outlet reported.

The actions also come after Biden preemptively pardoned Milley in anticipation of possible legal retaliation by Trump.
