Senate Democrats have blocked a Republican-backed legislation that would have put sanctions on the International Criminal Court.

The measure was created to punish the ICC after it put out arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his former defense minister and a Hamas official, accusing them of committing war crimes amid the Israel-Hamas war.

Democratic lawmakers argued Tuesday that the bill would negatively impact U.S. allies and American businesses.
