More than 175 wildfires across South and North Carolina forced evacuations over the weekend.

Wildfires burned in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina and in areas close to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, according to Weather Channel reports.

"The U.S. Forest Service is responding to multiple wildfires across the Forests in North Carolina including areas of the Croatan, Nantahala, Uwharrie, and Pisgah," the U.S. Forest Service said on Sunday in a statement on Facebook. "Red flag warnings persist bringing gusty winds, low relative humidity, dry fuels and shifting winds. Firefighters are working to contain the fires throughout the following forests and districts."

The Croatan National Forest wildfire has been the largest in North Carolina so far, burning about more than 114 acres as of Sunday, according to several reports.

In South Carolina, a wildfire near Myrtle Beach burnt about 1,200 acres as of Sunday morning.
