FBI says it closed down its DEI office in December
The bureau's closure comes as conservatives pressure the federal government and businesses to end their DEI practices, amid backlash over the Supreme Court's ruling on affirmative action in colleges.
The FBI on Thursday confirmed that it had closed down its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion offices last month, as the bureau prepares for President-elect Donald Trump's return to the White House.
Confirmation of the closure comes after Tennessee GOP Sen. Marsha Blackburn wrote to FBI Director Christopher Wray earlier this month, claiming that the bureau's DEI policies endangered Americans during the New Years terror attack in New Orleans.
"In recent weeks, the FBI took steps to close the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI), effective by December 2024," the agency told Fox News.
The bureau's closure of the office comes as conservatives pressure the federal government and businesses to end their DEI practices, in the wake of the Supreme Court's ruling on affirmative action in colleges.
