Trump drops Florida suit against New York AG James
James is pursuing a civil fraud case against the Trump Organization, alleging that it inflated the value of its major assets.
Former President Donald Trump has withdrawn a suit he filed against New York Attorney General Letitia James in response to her investigation into his business.
Trump "hereby voluntarily dismisses his claims in this action," his lawyers informed the Florida court on Friday, per Politico. Trump filed the suit in November of 2022, seeking to block James from accessing a Florida-based trust.
James is pursuing a civil fraud case against the Trump Organization, alleging that it inflated the value of its major assets. She secured a judicial order in November appointing an independent monitor to oversee major transactions of the company while the case is ongoing.
James's case is separate from the civil fraud case that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg had brought against the company, alleging that the company's top executives conspired to minimize their income taxes. A jury found the company guilty in December and the company was fined $1.6 million.
