SCOTUS to hear arguments for Biden loan forgiveness plan in February; plan to be blocked until then

The Supreme Court will continue to allow a block on the Biden administration's federal student loan forgiveness problem for at least the next several months, setting a February date to hear oral arguments for and against it. 

In a brief order on Thursday, the Court said it would "allow the case to be argued in the February 2023 argument session."

A request to vacate a lower court injunction against the $400 billion loan forgiveness plan was "deferred pending oral argument," the order noted. 

The prior day, on Wednesday night, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit had rejected the administration's request to reinstate the program pending legal challenges to it.
