Dominion suit against Fox will head to trial

A judge has ordered that a lawsuit against Fox News from Dominion Voting Systems over the network's covering of the firm proceed to trial.

Dominion is seeking $1.6 billion from the news network, alleging the company aired false information about its software while covering the 2020 presidential election and former President Donald Trump's claims of voter fraud.

"The evidence developed in this civil proceeding demonstrates that is CRYSTAL clear than none of the Statements relating to Dominion about the 2020 election are true," read the ruling from the Delaware Court, according to The Hill. "Therefore, the Court will grant summary judgment in favor of Dominion on the element of falsity."

Delaware Superior Court Judge Eric Davis issued the ruling. 

"Dominion has offered proof demonstrating that the allegations were substantially false," he opined. "Comparing the allegations at issue to the truth, the truth would have likely had a different outcome on the average viewer, as the statements at issue were dramatically different than the truth."

Fox had attempted to argue its case on the basis of the First Amendment. Though the court did not accept its arguments, the network vowed that "Fox will continue to fiercely advocate for the rights of free speech and a free press as we move into the next phase of these proceedings."
