Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.) believes the public exposure of information pertaining to Biden family foreign financial entanglements has benefited U.S. national security because that information can no longer be leveraged by foreign nations.

Johnson explained in an interview on the John Solomon Reports podcast that public awareness helps defuse "the counterintelligence, the extortion threat" posed, since anything that China, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Romania know regarding "these foreign entanglements of the Biden family can be used to affect policy and could affect our national security."

Johnson, who chairs the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, said that while "the Bidens were never targeted" by his investigation into Hunter Biden, the family "put a target on their back through their conflict of interest."

"We should actually be thanked by people," as the risk to national security has been diminished "because we made this available," the senator said, remarking that "these connections, those payments" cannot be exploited for blackmail.

"I don't know what else is lurking out there though," the senator noted.
