James Biden reportedly denies presidential brother's involvement in, knowledge of business dealings

In his testimony before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday, James Biden reportedly denied that his brother, President Joe Biden, had any "involvement" or "any direct or indirect financial interest" in his business ventures. 

"I have had a 50-year career in a variety of business ventures. Joe Biden has never had any involvement or any direct or indirect financial interest in those activities. None," Biden reportedly said, according to his opening statement obtained by The Washington Post and reported by Politico. 

Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin, the leading Democrat on the committee, told the media James Biden's testimony shows that Joe Biden was not involved in any way with his son or his younger brother. 

"We obviously again had heard nothing indicating that Joe Biden had anything to do with the business ventures of Hunter Biden for James Biden," Raskin told reporters, according to Punchbowl News. 

Congressional investigators are seeking more information two business deals involving James Biden that may show financial benefits for his brother. 

The first involves James Biden’s association with the failing healthcare company, the now-bankrupt Americore, for which he reportedly worked to secure investments to keep the rural hospital operator afloat. The second is the Biden family deal with CEFC China Energy which sent Hunter and James Biden millions in exchange for help securing investments in U.S. and foreign energy infrastructure projects.
