President of MSNBC resigns after four years of leadership
Jones was the first black executive to lead the network.
MSNBC President Rashida Jones announced Tuesday that she would be resigning from the position after leading for four years.
She got her position in February of 2021 shortly after President Joe Biden's presidential inauguration.
Jones was the first black executive to lead the network.
“I came to this decision over the holidays while reflecting on our remarkable journey and the many successes we’ve achieved together as a team," Jones wrote in a memo to staff, according to NBC News.
"This has been the most rewarding chapter of my professional career and I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished, which has been made possible only by you," the memo continued.
MSNBC's senior vice president of content strategy, Rebecca Kutler, is now the interim president.
Jones will have an advisory role with the network until March.
