British singer Marianne Faithfull, known for singing 'As Tears Go By,' dies at 78

British pop icon Marianne Faithfull, a long-time friend and muse for the Rolling Stones, died in London on Thursday at the age of 78, a spokesperson for her music promotion company Republic Media said.
The cause of the singer's death, who is known for the hit song "As Tears Go By," was not immediately known.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of the singer, songwriter and actress Marianne Faithfull,” the spokesperson said in a statement, per NBC News. “Marianne passed away peacefully in London today, in the company of her loving family. She will be dearly missed.”

She is survived by her son Nicholas Dunbar.
