A pregnant woman in Ukraine and her baby have died following the Russian attack on a maternity hospital last week in Mariupol, according to a news report.

Images of the woman were initially shared with the world via an Associated Press video. Her death was also first reported by the wire service.

Following the attack on the building, rescuers worked to remove the woman from the debris and wreckage. She was rushed to another hospital where she reportedly was found to have a crushed pelvis and hip detachment. The baby was delivered via cesarean section, but show "no signs of life" on arrival, the surgeon reportedly said.

The medical team then focused on the mother but even after 30 minutes of resuscitation, were unable to regain a pulse. She died as a result of her injuries.

The medical team did not get the woman's name.  Her husband and father came to recover the body that officials says likely would have otherwise wound up in a mass grave.
