Hezbollah launches 30 rockets into Israel from Lebanon, no casualties: IDF

Hezbollah launched 30 rockets into northern Israel from Lebanon on Monday.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said that no casualties have been reported from the attack.

"Following sirens that sounded a short while ago in northern Israel, approximately 30 projectiles were identified crossing from Lebanon toward the area of Kabri, a number of which fell in open areas," said an IDF spokesman, according to a Fox News report. "No injuries were reported." 

The missile barrage comes as tensions have heightened in the region. The U.S. has sent a guided missile submarine to the region as Iran is anticipated to be planning strikes against Israel following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran late last month and the death of Faud Shukr, Hezbollah’s "No. 2" commander, in Beirut last month.  

Israel has acknowledged its responsibility for the death of Shukr, which occurred as a response to an attack in Israel’s Golan Heights that killed a dozen children, but has been silent on any possible involvement in the death of Haniyeh.

Shukr, who was involved in the 1983 Beirut bombings of a Marine barracks that killed 241 U.S. military personnel, was identified by the IDF as the mastermind behind the attack in the Golan Heights.
