Unknown virus in Congo kills over 50 people, including children who consumed a bat
Testing confirmed that the virus is not Ebola or another common disease called Marburg.
Over 50 people are dead in the northwest of the Democratic Republic of Congo due to an unknown virus, according to the World Health Organization.
The WHO's African office said that the outbreak started after three children ate a bat and died within two days after they had hemorrhagic fever symptoms.

The disease outbreak began Jan. 21 and as of now, 53 people have died.
Over the past few years, Congo has suffered from many disease outbreaks such as typhoid and malaria.
Last year another mysterious illness in Congo killed 143 people.
