An adult male fan fell onto a baseball field at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday night, during the seventh inning of the Pittsburgh Pirates game against the Chicago Cubs, the team confirmed on social media.

The status of the man has not been released, but Pittsburgh Emergency Services and medical teams for the baseball teams responded to the incident immediately and administered care, the Pirates said.

The fan has since been transported to Allegheny General Hospital. It is not clear how far he fell, but the team said he fell from the right field bleachers onto the field. NBC News is citing a witness who saw the man fall, and who said it was from a 21-foot wall.

“No further information is available at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family,” the team said in a post on X.

The incident occurred as Pirates star Andrew McCutchen hit a two-run double that placed the team ahead of the Cubs, according to Fox News. The game was paused for approximately 10 minutes while the fan was treated, and the Pirates later beat Chicago 4-3.
