Turkey gifts Mexico a new puppy after search and rescue dog dies

Mexico received a 3-month-old puppy from Turkey on Tuesday in an expression of gratitude for their help with search and rescue efforts following the February 6 catastrophic earthquake. A dog from Mexico’s canine unit named Proteo, meaning “I protect”, died during his rescue mission in Turkey. Mexico’s Ministry of Defense has set up a Twitter poll asking people to vote on the new puppy’s name.
