Rescue efforts have covered 7,600 miles of Atlantic Ocean with no results, says US Coast Guard
Captain Jamie Frederick said search efforts by the U.S. Coast Guard, the Canadian Coast Guard, the Air National Guard aircraft, and the Titan support vessel Polar Prince for the missing Titanic tourist submersible have come up empty. At a press conference at the U.S. Coast Guard Station in Boston, Massachusetts Tuesday afternoon, Frederick said rescuers have combed “an area larger than the state of Connecticut” with planes, boating vessels, and radar and sonar technology. The missing submersible, called Titan, lost communication shortly after beginning its underwater expedition to the Titanic shipwreck in the remote Atlantic Ocean.
