Pete Buttigieg says FAA is working to hire thousands of new air traffic controllers

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is working to hire and train thousands of air traffic controllers to address the current nationwide understaffing. While there have been reports of airline delays and cancellations, Buttigieg estimates that only about 5% of delay minutes can be attributed to FAA staff shortages, but the problem is likely to grow without more trained controllers.
