Italy: Pope Francis doing well after abdominal surgery

The Vatican spokesperson, Matteo Bruni, says “the night went well” after Pope Francis was hospitalized in Rome for abdominal surgery on Wednesday. Pope Francis, who is 86, is set to stay in the hospital for several days. The Vatican has canceled all his papal audiences through next Sunday. A Vatican spokesperson says the Pope is expected to make a "full functional recovery" from this surgery.
