DOT announces new rule mandating wheelchair-accessible bathrooms on airplanes

The Department of Transportation issued a new rule Tuesday mandating single-aisle jetliners with at least 125 seats to have fully accessible bathrooms. The upgraded restrooms will require grab bars, accessible faucets, call buttons, and enough space to accommodate a wheelchair-bound person and a flight attendant. All new aircrafts after September 2026 will be required to have these features.
