Demonstrations against construction of high-speed train draw crowds of thousands

Thousands of protesters attended banned demonstrations against the construction of a high-speed train line between Italy and France, resulting in clashes with police and injuries. The protestors are opposed to the project due to potential impacts on the sensitive environment around the Alps.
