David Walker: COVID-related fraud may have cost taxpayers $1 trillion
David Walker, former U.S. Comptroller General, says a GAO report assessing the last few years of waste, fraud, and abuse found the federal government cost taxpayers $200 to $500 billion annually. Walker says he wouldn’t be surprised if COVID-related fraud amounted to $1 trillion.
