Biden vetoes resolution blocking suspension of tariffs on Asian-made solar panel imports
President Joe Biden vetoed a resolution on Tuesday that would have re-imposed tariffs on solar panel imports from Southeast Asian countries. Biden initiated an emergency suspension in tariffs from Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Malaysia in June 2022 as part of his agenda to boost renewable energy production in the U.S., though opposing lawmakers have voiced concerns that China has essentially moved their solar equipment productions to these countries. The measure is set to be lifted in June 2024.
