#NoPompeo trends on X as conservatives urge Trump to keep him away from WH
Trump himself does not appear to have commented on a prospective role for Pompeo, though he has previously expressed interest in returning in some capacity.
Conservatives online have rallied to urge President-elect Donald Trump to exclude former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo from his administration.
As of press time, "#NoPompeo" was trending on X as the second-highest hashtag in the United States.
Driven in part by prominent conservative accounts such as Catturd and Jack Posobiec, the opposition to Pompeo largely stems from his comments in which he appeared to support special counsel Jack Smith's classified documents probe.
Trump-backer David Sacks, for his part, pointed to Pompeo's advocacy for NATO expansion and escalating the Ukraine War in expressing his concerns.
"Just two months ago, while President Trump campaigned on the need to negotiate peace in Ukraine, Mike Pompeo stubbornly argued for escalating the War," he posted. "Pompeo insists on NATO expansion that provoked the war. He’s dangerously out of step with President Trump’s views."
Trump himself does not appear to have commented on a prospective role for Pompeo, though he has previously expressed interest in returning in some capacity.
[I]f I get a chance to serve and think that I can make a difference ... I’m almost certainly going to say yes to that opportunity to try and deliver on behalf of the American people," he told Fox News in March.
