Trump reportedly meets with RNC's McDaniel, says he will soon make 'recommendations'

Former President Donald Trump on Monday met with Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel at his Mar-a-Lago estate, according to Politico, which cited "two people familiar with the discussion."

McDaniel has come under fire in recent months, in part due to the RNC's sluggish fundraising. While seeking the party nomination, tech mogul Vivek Ramaswamy called for her resignation on the debate stage and later launched a "Fire Ronna" website.

Later on Monday, Trump touted his success in Michigan during the 2016 campaign, a feat to which he partly credited McDaniel. He did, however, go on to indicate he would eventually recommendation charges at the RNC to foster its growth.

"Things are looking great in the Presidential Race of 2024 against Crooked Joe Biden. We have Leads, in many cases substantial, in virtually every Head-to-Head Poll. The Primary seems to be over, but I’ll be going to South Carolina next week to finish off a very unpopular Candidate," he posted on Truth Social, making an apparent reference to former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley. "On Thursday, I’m heading to Nevada for the Nevada Caucus, where there are 26 Delegates - Hopefully, we’ll get most of them."

"In my successful run in 2016, the State of Michigan really came through - First time in Decades that it was won by a Republican, and it was headed up by my friend Ronna McDaniel. Ronna is now Head of the RNC, and I’ll be making a decision the day after the South Carolina Primary as to my recommendations for RNC Growth," he concluded.

McDaniel won her fourth term as RNC chairwoman in January of last year, beating out RNC member Harmeet Dhillon and MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, both of whom criticized her stewardship of the party.
