Former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy on Tuesday was greeted with cheers of "VP!" after touting his support for former President Donald Trump at a New Hampshire event with him.

After finishing fourth in the Iowa Caucus, Ramaswamy dropped out of the race and backed Trump's 2024 bid. One day later, he appeared alongside the Republican frontrunner to campaign on his behalf in the Granite State, with less than a week before the primary.

Ramaswamy, during his speech, declared that "[w]e are in the middle of a war in this country... It's between the permanent state and the everyday citizen... Right now we need a commander in chief who will lead us to victory in this war."

"I think that's gonna require... a businessman not a politician," he said, before suggesting that such a mentality had prompted his own campaign. He did, however, insist that the results of the Iowa Caucus had sent a clear message as to his own prospects.

"The people of Iowa spoke loud and clear last night... We heard 'we the people' last night," Ramaswamy went on. "I am asking you to do the right thing as New Hampshire, and to vote for Donald J. Trump!"

Upon completion of his speech, an energetic crowd chanted "VP!"

Ramaswamy has long attracted speculation as a potential running mate for Trump.

Trump, for his part, stated Tuesday that "I was honored to receive the endorsement of a man who has become a true leader."

"He has a big beautiful, bright future ahead," Trump declared.
