MTG denounces US airstrikes on Houthi rebels, says Biden admininistration 'out of control'
The strikes were in response to a Houthi naval strike campaign on civilian shipping in the Red Sea.
Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is calling the Biden administration "out of control" for having ordered U.S. airstrikes Thursday night on Houthi rebels.
"The President must come to Congress for permission before going to war," Greene said on the social media platform, X. "Biden can not solely decide to bomb Yemen."
On Thursday, the U.S. and the U.K. launched joint airstrikes in Yemen and killed five people, according to Houthi leadership.
The strikes were in response to a Houthi naval strike campaign on civilian shipping in the Red Sea.
"Biden admin wants to fund war in Ukraine, control the war in Israel, arm Taiwan and prep for war with China, and is now going to war in the Middle East???" Greene continued. "All with a wide open border, millions invading, and millions of got aways?! This is insanely out of control!"
President Joe Biden said the strikes were necessary due to American vessels in the Red Sea being targeted.
“Today’s defensive action follows this extensive diplomatic campaign and Houthi rebels’ escalating attacks against commercial vessels,” he said, according to The Hill.
“These targeted strikes are a clear message that the United States and our partners will not tolerate attacks on our personnel or allow hostile actors to imperil freedom of navigation in one of the world’s most critical commercial routes.”
