Dr. Anthony Fauci was briefly hospitalized after getting West Nile virus, according to his spokesperson.
He is expected to make a full recovery.
"Tony Fauci has been hospitalized with a case of West Nile virus. He is now home and is recovering," his spokesperson said in a Saturday statement, according to NBC News.
Fauci was the chief medical adviser to President Joe Biden. He stepped down as the director of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in 2022.
West Nile virus is often spread through infected bugs and as of now there is no vaccine or treatment for it, according to NBC.
