GOP Sen. Barrasso endorses Trump-backed Moreno in Ohio GOP Senate primary
The Republican primary is scheduled for March 19.
Wyoming Republican Sen. John Barrasso this week endorsed Bernie Moreno in the Ohio Republican Senate primary, choosing the businessman over state officeholders running for the party nomination to take on Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown.
The primary includes Moreno, Secretary of State Frank LaRose, and state Sen. Matt Dolan. Barrasso on Tuesday endorsed Moreno, saying he would "help make America stronger and safer," Politico reported. The Republican primary is scheduled for March 19.
"Bernie Moreno is built for Ohio," he added. "His story is Ohio’s story. Hard work, grit, and drive to build a family and a successful small business."
Moreno thanked Barrasso for his endorsement on X, adding that "Ohio Republicans know that we must be fully united to defeat [Sherrod Brown] and the tens of millions of out of State special interest money he will have bankrolling his campaign."
Barrasso's support marks the latest endorsement of Moreno, who already enjoys the backing of former President Donald Trump and Ohio GOP Sen. J.D. Vance. The Wyoming senator endorsed Trump's 2024 White House bid earlier this month.
