Peloton recalls all treadmills for safety concerns, after child's death, dozens of injuries

Peloton on Wednesday recalled its treadmills amid safety concerns.

The Tread+ and Tread mills are recalled after one child died and dozens of others were injured in as many as 70 incidents in connection with the exercise equipment. 

About 125,000 machines were included in the recall, after the Consumer Product Safety Commission last month requested the machines be recalled, according to CNN.

"I want to be clear, Peloton made a mistake in our initial response to the CPSC's request," Peloton CEO John Foley said Wednesday. "We should have engaged more productively with them from the outset. For that, I apologize."

The CPSC issued the warning after a 6-year-old died as a result of being pulled underneath the rear of the machine, according to the BBC. In the same month, a 3-year-old reportedly sustained a brain injury after being pulled under the treadmill.

Peloton will stop selling the product in the U.S. and give a full refund to customers.
