Mark Carney, former central banker, won the race to replace Justin Trudeau as Canadian prime minister on Sunday.

Carney, 59, won 86% of the vote, defeating former Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland. 

About 152,000 party members voted.

Carney will take over in the middle of a trade war with the U.S. under President Trump.
