A judge in Virginia on Wednesday extended voter registrations for 48 hours, after a cut cable Tuesday knocked the state's signup site offline.

The judge said the incident caused “tremendous harm," according to the Associated Press.

The request to extend the deadline to Thursday was made by the office of Attorney General Mark Herring.
