Harris-Walz campaign server exposed after it bans sleuth who uncovered Reddit manipulation scheme
Fake volunteer "Reddit Lies" throws "dead man's switch" after campaign bans them from Discord server used to assign volunteers to post preferred news, data and talking points on Reddit.
The Reddit sleuth who uncovered the Harris-Walz campaign's efforts to allegedly manipulate the platform to make the Democratic presidential ticket look popular threw the "dead man's switch" Wednesday after the campaign banned him from its Discord server, which it used to assign volunteers to post preferred news, data and talking points on Reddit.
"We expected this," the X user known as "Reddit Lies wrote. "That's why we quietly archived the server over the past week and are now releasing the files to the broader public."
The server dump, titled "Cackles LLC" in apparent reference to Democratic presidential nominee Vice Presidnet Kamala Harris's distinctive laugh, is posted as HTML code, making the more than 3,700 pages hard to read. It's not searchable or organized into sections.
But it includes screenshots of the server home page, dozens of staff and volunteers and their "virtual office" permissions, and long lists of channels.
Another X user provided instructions on how to read the pages more easily.
