Harris suspends in-person campaigning after people including a staffer test positive for coronavirus

The campaign for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden said Thursday that running-mate Sen. Kamala Harris will suspend in-person events until Monday after two people associated with the campaign tested positive for the coronavirus.

The campaign said Biden had no exposure, though he and Harris spent several hours campaigning together in Arizona on Oct. 8, according to the Associated Press.

Harris was scheduled to travel Thursday to North Carolina for events encouraging voters to cast early ballots.

The campaign on Thursday morning revealed that Harris’ communications director and a person on the flight crew of a Harris campaign trip had tested positive, the wire service also reported. The flight occurred on October 8.

The campaign later on Thursday announced that a third person had tested positive. The news outlet reported that according to the campaign that third individual works for an aviation company and was present on plane trips that Biden took this week but entered via the rear of the plane and was positioned far from Biden.
