Freedom Caucus members Perry, Crane face tough re-election bids, GOP hopeful about Maryland seat
Multiple House races are neck and neck as both Democrats and Republicans pour money into them.
Representatives Eli Crane, R-Ariz., and Scott Perry, R-Pa., are facing tough re-election bids as the November approaches, but Republicans are hopeful about potentially flipping a Maryland seat.
In 2022, Crane flipped the second district of Arizona from blue to red. However, according to Inside Elections, he and his Democratic opponent Jonathan Nez are neck and neck. A poll conducted in early October Nez and Crane are tied in their race to the House.
Meanwhile, former House Freedom Caucus Chairman Perry is on the verge of losing his seat. House Speaker Mike Johnson is expected to campaign for Perry this week.
Punchbowl News reports that Perry's Democratic opponent Janelle Stelson is out fundraising him by a lot and has labeled him as too radical for Pennsylvania's 10th district.
Republicans however are making strides in Maryland as they are fighting to take back a seat they lost a while ago. The 6th district of Maryland race is heating up between Democratic candidate April McClain Delaney and Republican candidate Neil Parrott. The seat is currently held by Rep. David Trone who left the seat to run for Senate.
Senior Democrats told Punchbowl that the race is closer than it should be as Parrott is backed by the Freedom Caucus and Delaney is backed by prominent Democrats such as former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md.
Maryland Democratic Gov. Wes Moore is expected to campaign for Delaney.
