Biden rival Klobuchar rallies fellow 2020 Democratic contenders around nominee
'Out of many one' – Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar for the 2020 Democratic National Convention
Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar on Monday night rallied fellow 2020 Democratic presidential candidates around nominee Joe Biden.
“Unity isn't about settling,” Klobuchar said in a live speech from St. Paul, Minnesota, on the opening night of the Democratic National Convention. “Unity is about reaching up toward a higher purpose, a better future for all of us. He pluribus unum. Out of many one. It is more than a motto. It is the North Star for our democracy. Now more than ever we need a president who will unite this country. … The Democratic Party, we're a rambunctious group, Joe Biden has pulled it off.”
Klobuchar closed her speech with a video that included fellow 2020 Democratic presidential candidates Sens. Cory Booker, of New Jersey, and Kirsten Gillibrand, of New York; former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke; businessman Tom Steyer; entrepreneur Andrew Yang and Washington Gov. Jay Inslee.
“It’s not easy to unite the Democratic Party,” Inslee said. “Joe Biden has pulled it off.”
