Antisemitism report at CUNY calls for 'overhaul' of the university's policies
Following the war between Israel and Hamas, multiple anti-Israel protests broke out among college campuses across the United States.
An independent review of discrimination at the City University of New York said the university needs to overhaul the system’s policies regarding antisemitism.
The report also said there should be a center created to address antisemitism at the university and other types of discrimination, according to The Times of Israel.
New York Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul ordered a review of the university's antisemitism policies last October following an attack against Israel by the terrorist group Hamas.
Following the war between Israel and Hamas, anti-Israel protests broke out among college campuses across the United States.
Jewish organizations have also been protested at colleges, specifically at CUNY.
The evaluation was led by a former New York state chief judge, Jonathan Lippman.
“CUNY’s current system of handling complaints regarding antisemitism, discrimination, and retaliation is ineffective and needs to be completely overhauled,” the report said, according to The Times of Israel. “CUNY’s current policies and procedures are in many respects outdated and potential sources of confusion.”
