Biden weighs in: 'No question' Trump supported an insurrection
"Now whether the 14th Amendment applies, I'll let the court make that decision," he added.
President Joe Biden on Wednesday insisted that former President Donald Trump engaged in an insurrection by inciting the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol Riot after the Colorado Supreme Court deemed him ineligible to be president under the 14th Amendment.
The court ordered Trump's removal from the ballot but stayed their order until Jan. 4 and Trump has vowed to appeal to the Supreme Court.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Biden endorsed the key finding, namely that Trump engaged in an insurrection, but declined to weigh in on the legal arguments related to his opponent's eligibility for office.
"I think it's self-evident. You saw it all," he said, according to the Daily Mail. "[H]e certainly supported an insurrection. There's no question about it. None. Zero."
"Now whether the 14th Amendment applies, I'll let the court make that decision," he added.
Trump's removal from the Colorado ballot drew outrage from Republicans and has even prompted calls to remove Biden from the ballot in red states, though thus far none have moved to do so.
