Veteran presents Trump with his Purple Heart for injuries on campaign

Trump later reshared the exchange on social media, calling Ford "a great hero."

Sgt. John Ford presented former President Donald Trump with his Purple Heart medal in acknowledgement of the injuries his sustained while campaigning and in honor of his service to the nation.

"Sir, I brought you a Purple Heart I want to present you for your injuries and for what a great job you've done for our country," he said in the video.

Is that yours? Is that your medal?" Trump asked.

"Yes sir," was Ford's reply.

Trump later reshared the exchange on social media, calling Ford "a great hero."

The Purple Heart is presented to U.S. military servicemembers killed or wounded while serving.

Trump was shot in Butler, Pa., on July 13 while campaigning.
