President Trump: 'Senate should not approve NDAA until fixed!!!'
"Weak and tired Republican 'leadership' will allow the bad Defense Bill to pass," the president tweeted.
President Trump on Tuesday blasted Republicans in connection with the National Defense Authorization Act, which Congress could still approve over the president's veto and vocal opposition.
"Weak and tired Republican 'leadership' will allow the bad Defense Bill to pass. Say goodbye to VITAL Section 230 termination, your National Monuments, Forts (names!) and Treasures (inserted by Elizabeth 'Pocahontas' Warren), 5G, and our great soldiers being removed and brought home from foreign lands who do NOTHING for us," the president tweeted on Tuesday. "A disgraceful act of cowardice and total submission by weak people to Big Tech. Negotiate a better Bill, or get better leaders, NOW! Senate should not approve NDAA until fixed!!!"
The House of Representatives on Monday voted to override the president's veto of the defense bill. There were 109 Republicans who voted in favor of the veto override, according to the Associated Press. The outlet noted that Rep. Liz Cheney, the House Republican Conference Chair, was among the GOP lawmakers who voted for the override.
If the Senate follows suit and a sufficient number of U.S. senators vote in favor of the legislation it would become the first time that Congress will have overridden a presidential veto during Trump's tenure in office.
