Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday endorsed South Dakota Republican Gov. Kristi Noem, who has been a close ally of his.

Trump wrote that Noem "has done a great job" and "is strong on Borders, the Second Amendment, preserving land and Energy Dominance, Medical Freedom, and kept South Dakota open during COVID."

"She fully supports our great Law Enforcement, Military, our wonderful Vets—and is a fighter for the incredible people of South Dakota," Trump wrote. "Kristi has my Complete and Total Endorsement!"

Noem has defended the former president for years. In September, she said she would support Trump if he ran again in 2024. She is currently facing a primary challenge from State Rep. Steve Haugaard (R-Sioux Falls), KOTA reports. She is up for reelection this November.
