Trump signs executive order creating new White House Faith office
The news comes one day after Trump signed an order to create a new task force to identify and end "anti-Christian bias," within the federal government.
President Donald Trump on Friday signed an executive order establishing a White House Faith office that seeks to "empower" faith based institutions to better serve their communities and families.
The office will be placed under the Domestic Policy Council, which will work with faith experts and consult them on how to implement policy changes that "better align with American values," according to Fox News.
The president also appointed several people to serve in the office, including Pastor Paula White-Cain, who will serve as a "Special Government Employee and Senior Advisor of the newly created White House Faith Office."
The news comes one day after Trump signed an order to create a new task force to identify and end "anti-Christian bias," within the federal government. The task force will feature members of the president’s Cabinet and leaders of key government agencies.
Trump also spoke at the National Prayer Breakfast at the Washington Hilton on Thursday, where he promised to "bring religion back" to the country.
"From the earliest days of our republic, faith in God has always been the ultimate source of the strength that beats in the hearts of our nation," Trump said. "We have to bring religion back. We have to bring it back much stronger. It’s one of the biggest problems that we’ve had over the last fairly long period of time. We have to bring it back."
