Vance: Indian wife has suffered white supremacist attacks
JD Vance has attracted criticism both over his wife's race and his comments on childless women
Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, has acknowledged that his wife, Usha Vance, has endured racist attacks since his nomination as the Republican vice presidential candidate. Usha Vance is Indian and the child of immigrants.
JD Vance expressed his love for Usha on Megyn Kelly's Friday show, The Hill reported.
"Look, I love my wife so much," JD Vance told Kelly. "We’ve been accused, attacked by some white supremacists over that. But I just, I love Usha."
"Who is this guy, really?" asked white supremacist Nick Fuentes. "Do we really expect that the guy who has an Indian wife and named their kid Vivek is going to support white identity?"
The Hill reported "Vance has not publicly condemned the attacks," instead choosing to criticize "liberal commentators who have blasted his past comments about traditional family and gender roles," including comments on "childless" women.
“My own wife is a working mother. You hear leftists say JD wants to keep women in the home. My own wife, I’ve supported her career for my entire life,” he said. “This is about criticizing the Democratic Party for becoming antifamily and antichild.”
Vance labeled the liberal criticisms "disgusting."
Vance instead touted his wife's role as a working mother. "She’s such a brilliant lawyer, and I’m so proud of her. But yes, her experience has given me some perspective on the way in which it’s really hard for working families in this country."
