Amazon workers strike around the world on Black Friday in bid for higher pay

‘Make Amazon Pay’ campaign seeks higher compensation for laborers.

Thousands of Amazon workers around the world staged major walkouts on Black Friday, demanding higher pay from the retail giant on one of the busiest shopping days of the year. 

The “Make Amazon Pay” campaign seeks to force the company to pay “fair wages, its taxes and for its impact on the planet,” according to the campaign’s website. 

The initiative pointed to “actions” in countries worldwide on Black Friday, including in Europe North America, southern Africa and Japan. 

Video from demonstrations also arose on social media. 

The company faced protests in upwards of 40 countries on Friday.
