Yankees star Juan Soto scores historic $765 million deal to move cross town to New York Mets
Soto’s deal is largest in sports history.
The New York Mets on Sunday night reportedly signed superstar outfielder Juan Soto to a 15-year, $765 million contract that lures him away from the cross-town Yankees that have long-overshadowed their franchise.
Soto’s deal, reported by numerous outlets, is the largest contract in sports history.
The 26-year-old posted another strong season, slugging 41 homers to earn an All-Star berth and a Silver Slugger award with the Yankees in a season that ended with a loss in the World Series.
Mets owner Steve Cohen, the richest owner in baseball, outbid his crosstown counterpart Hal Steinbrenner to lure Soto from the Bronx to Queens.
