Suspect in stabbing attack in Austria allegedly tied to Islamic State
Over the weekend, a 14-year-old was killed in the Austrian town of Villach due to an individual going on a stabbing rampage.
A Syrian asylum seeker who allegedly killed a teen in a weekend stabbing attack in Austria had sworn allegiance to Islamic State, according to authorities.
In addition to the death of a 14 year old, five others were injured in the attack in the Austrian town of Villach. Three of the survivors are in intensive care, according to police.
Police said the individual being charged with the crime was radicalized online, according to the Reuters outlet.
Authorities also said that another Syrian, who was a food delivery driver, saw the attacker and used his car to drive into the attacker to stop him.
Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg said the perpetrator would be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
