Man charged with attempted murder for pushing another man onto the NYC subway tracks

Authorities have identified the person arrested in connection with the incident as Kamel Hawkins, 22.

New York City police have charges a 22-year-old male with attempted murder in connection with a subway passenger being push unto the tracks Tuesday as a train approached. 

The defendant has been identified as  Kamel Hawkins, according to CNN.

The 45-year-old male victim was not hit by the train but fell on the tracks just as it was passing. He was taken to Belleview Hospital in critical condition. 

The incident follows one last month in which a man subway passenger set a fellow female passenger on fire, killing her.
